Gringo Dog’s Hotdog Shop
Hi, My name is Roger Bouwman, Founder of GringoDog’s Hotdog Shop. GringoDog’s is the 1st step, in achieving my life long dream to own a hotdog cart/restaurant on the beaches of the world.
At the age of 7 years old (1970), on one of our families yearly two week long summer vacations, we got hotdogs off of this one pedal driven street cart. Like most kids, I loved hotdogs but to see a bike hooked to acart that was designed just to sell hotdogs, etched that memory into my head. What a cool idea, an entire cart designed around my favorite food in the word. I had to have one, but mom and dad disagreed.
That memory stuck with me to adulthood and at the age of 52, I am proud to announce, I have finally acquired my cart. But as an adult I understand that just because its fun food does not mean its all fun and games.
It was an uphill battle to start and to stay running with over a dozen street vendors competing for sales. Then Covid shutdowns, supply shortages and labor issues. We were just inches from closing our doors for good. But we regrouped, we created our own custom, hand made hotdog. Created from our butchers amazing original hotdog recipe, we tweaked the recipe with my Keto diet in mind. We removed all the sweeteners and fillers leaving a delicouse smokes meat stick. Our recipe is simple, (Beef, natural flavoring, spices & seasoning, sheep casings and smoked to perfection) so you know you can count on our hotdogs.
Of course we use fresh onions, our Famous Recipe Chili & sharp cheddar cheese on our Dirty Dogs, over 50 tiopping including over a dozen mustards, half dozen ketchups and assorted sweet, salty, hot and spicy toppings. We will even be using the Bouwman family bread recipe for our buns.
Gringo Dog looks forward to becoming your favorite food cart and soon your favorite restaurant. To do this we are launching a KickStarter/Indegogo campaign to raise funds for this restaurant and need your help. Until this time you can find us at Ottawa and Fulton every weekend from 7pm to 230 am and at verious local retrailers and company lunches.
